KOLKATA: An Embraer aircraft of the Indian Air Force IAF )'s transport wing that has been specially designed to carry out Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) functions, underwent air-to-air refuelling ( AAR ) successfully for the first time on Thursday. "This was the first time that AAR was conducted on an Embraer platform of IAF. When the aircraft were ordered, the manufacturer was asked to equip them with necessary facilities for AAR to enable long duration flights. A mere 10-minute in-flight refuelling generated additional four hours of flying endurance. "The achievement has given tremendous boost to the IAF's operational capability," he added.
