Speaking on the issue in a recent programme, Pratt questioned recent reports suggesting that French soldiers could be deployed to Ghana to help combat the menace. “Only last week, there was this news report about French soldiers coming here to teach us how to fight galamsey. And I’m wondering, French soldiers, what do they know about galamsey?” he quizzed. It is not in the interest of West Africa and cannot be in the interest of Africa,” he stated. He also made reference to the alleged presence of a United States military base in Ghana, calling for their recall.
