I pay less for an apartment in Germany than for a room in a Dublin house

Robert Morrow is originally from Cloone, Co Leitrim and now lives in Freiburg, Germany, where he works on sustainable development in cities across the world. In total, the network has 1,750 members, and about 190 are European cities and towns. Back in 1994, in the aftermath of the Rio Earth Summit, European cities and towns came together in Aalborg for the first European Sustainable Cities and Towns conference. The charter has since been endorsed by more than 3,000 local authorities, and kick-started the European Sustainable Cities and Towns campaign. I have my own one-bedroom apartment, which is a 15-minute walk from the city centre, and I still pay less than what I would pay to rent a room in a shared house in Dublin.
