‘You’ve got to put in the hours’: Martin Wolstencroft LUCAS SMITHDressed as the burger mascot Mr Wimpy on a match day in Oldham, 16-year-old Martin Wolstencroft got caught between rival Oldham Athletic and Huddersfield Town fans. “I got pushed over and they rolled me down the street inside my fibreglass costume,” he recalled. “I was wearing red tights and big floppy shoes.”Not surprisingly, Wolstencroft soon gave up impersonating hamburgers and turned to bar work. In 2000 he opened his own bar, the Arc, in Headingley, Leeds. Wolstencroft, 48, was born in Saddleworth, Oldham.
