A British boxing commentator has been widely criticised on social media after calling on a white journalist to discuss Black History Month – while sat next to a black former heavyweight champion. "Before we get to talk about our main fight here", Demspey began, "I think it is perhaps appropriate tonight to just pause and mark Black History Month most of all. The 57-year-old Bunce is a well-respected boxing reporter and historian who has written several books on the history of British boxing. He responded to the criticism on Twitter by urging boxing fans to ignore the uproar and watch his tribute to black fighters.
