Lamb exports rose 12 per cent in August compared to a year ago, but farmers have less in their pockets. The value of the exports was up 43 per cent to $20m, despite the approach of Brexit. Lamb prices had increased slightly in the last three months, but this was normal for this time of year, she said. Lamb prices were usually at their highest about now with a steady decline towards Christmas. The value of those exports was $80 million, the highest in five years.This increase had offset a drop in beef exports to China, but these still remained higher than ago in previous August months, she said.
