In 2012 ― nearly two years after graduating with a bachelor’s degree ― I finally landed steady work as a receptionist for an orthodontist’s office. I still recall the look of shock on my supervisor’s face when he realized I had a bachelor’s degree. I still don’t make anywhere near what someone with a bachelor’s degree is expected earn.
