As his vehicle was travelling beside the truck, motorist Reuben Holland, travelling south, came around the bend and collided with Hodgkinson’s vehicle. Andy Jackson/Stuff On Friday, the victim’s husband, Arapeta Ryan Hodgkinson, was sentenced in New Plymouth District Court for the crash. Following the crash, he admitted to police he had become impatient and had limited clear visible distance ahead of the truck. To pass the truck was the “worst decision of his life”, he told police. In court, Hodgkinson faced sentencing on admitted charges of driving dangerously causing death and two of driving dangerously causing injury.
