KUALA LUMPUR: Emotions ran high at the Sessions Court, here, today, when a man who allegedly stabbed his heavily-pregnant wife multiple times was produced in court to be charged. The proceeding was cut short when the accused, Zulkifli Taib, 38, did not understand the charge when it was read to him by court interpreter before Judge Mahyon Talib. No plea was recorded as the assistant audio technician insisted that he did not understand the charge after it was read twice. The court allowed the application under Section 342(5) of the Criminal Procedure Code and fixed Dec 13 to view Zulkifli’s mental report. Clad in a grey shirt, Zulkifli suddenly burst out in tears saying he did not mean to hurt his wife.
