At work, employees are constantly subjected to interruptions in the form of emails, text messages and instant messages. Such comparison metrics can be used to help workers better understand how their actual work hours compare with their peers. This can include helping us manage our digital work environment. There are also chatbots that, armed with a smart filter, can prevent certain applications—such as a social media feed—from refreshing, reducing the number of distractions that could interrupt an employee’s work flow. After all, not all of us have governments that will go so far as to regulate our technology use.
