The United States Senate on Thursday confirmed Mike Pompeo as the nation’s 70th Secretary of State. “I am pleased with the Senate’s confirmation of Mike Pompeo to serve as our country’s top diplomat,” President Trump said in a statement. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Brussels, Riyadh, Jerusalem, and Amman, April 26-30. The Secretary looks forward to meeting key Allies and partners on his first official trip as Secretary of State,” the State Department said in a statement. The former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had to cut his first trip to Africa short and was sacked on the plane on his way home.
