Eskom is making headway in the development of solar microgrids and the upskilling of former coal-fired power station staff to work in the renewable space. The utility company exhibited one of its containerised solar microgrids at Enlit Africa last week to highlight the solution. All the technology of the microgrid had been developed in-house by Eskom. This power station now includes a microgrid assembly facility. While you are taking away the traditional coal-fired power station, you are still utilising the people in the community and the workers and bridge that gap with training.”
