Liverpool have been beaten 1-0 by Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. After the Turkish giants conceding a few early chances, Mario Lemina headed them into the lead from close range in the eighth minute. Victor Osimhen thought he had doubled Galatsaray's lead just after the hour mark but his celebrations were cut short by the offside flag. Liverpool then thought they had scored as the ball bobbled into the net from a set piece, but intervention from the VAR officials led to the equaliser being disallowed. 1-0 was how it finished after a poor performance from the visitors, who will have to overturn the deficit in next Wednesday's second leg at Anfield.
