At the time, the then Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho had stamped his authority in regional politics. And the Kongowea Ward MCA had teamed up with the then Senator Hassan Omar, who had emerged as Joho's biggest rival in the gubernatorial race. Oduor ran for Mombasa senator position on an independent party ticket. Having made a wrong political move of playing with Joho, the former MCA will have himself to blame.
