Last year data from the U.S. and U.K. showed startling disparities in the ways COVID-19 was infecting Black and other racialized communities. This data only came out after Black health leaders sounded the alarm and pushed for it. Dr. Allen is the division head of infectious diseases at SickKids, and one of the few Black people in his field in Canada. He joins “This Matters” host Saba Eitizaz to talk about his pilot project and its findings so far and his work on another very important aspect of COVID-19; addressing vaccine hesitancy and misconceptions.
