Southland Racing Club president Sean Bellew at the Ascot Park racecourse's car park where it is planned 18 houses will be built. The Ascot Park racecourse’s public car park is to be turned into 18 family or retirement homes in Invercargill. The racing club has yet to decide on whether there will be housing, retail businesses or a mixture of both on that land. The nearby Ascot Care Home and Retirement Village was built on a large section of the racecourse’s public car park. “We’ve got to make sure Ascot Park has a future for younger people.”
