— Four months after it lurched into a sinkhole with a terrifying clamour in the middle of the night, a Nova Scotia house has been demolished. They escaped to discover their two-storey home had sagged into the ground and a large sinkhole had opened up. “We knew it would have to be taken down due to the structural damage to the house. At the time, a geologist with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources told Global News that the area is mapped as “high risk” for naturally occurring sinkholes. “It makes it a high risk because of the rock type that’s underneath the gypsum,” said Bob Ryan at the time.
