House Republicans unveil bill to repeal Obamacare

The plan would repeal the statute's unpopular fines on people who don't carry health insurance. The bill would continue Obama's expansion of Medicaid to additional low-earning Americans until 2020. (Nate Chute/Reuters)House Speaker Paul Ryan, who represents Wisconsin, said the bill would "drive down costs, encourage competition, and give every American access to quality, affordable health insurance." The Republican tax credits, ranging from $2,000 US to $14,000 for families, would be refundable, meaning even people with no tax liability would receive payments. Instead, a similar tax imposed by Obama's law on expensive plans, set to take effect in 2020, would begin in 2025.
