As the mystery surrounding the removal of Vice Admiral Mark Norman continues into its second month, the country’s military is getting a new vice chief of the defence staff – at least temporarily. Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Jon Vance announced on Twitter on Monday that Lt.-Gen. Alain Parent will assume the job as acting vice chief of the defence staff on May 30. Parent will replace Vice Admiral Ron Lloyd who was named by Vance on Jan. 13 after he removed Norman from his duties. Vance has not offered any explanation for his removal of Norman from the job as vice chief of the defence staff. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he supports Vance in his decision to remove Norman, but offered no further details.
