MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved on second reading a bill that aims to protect consumers and sellers online. Voting via viva voce, the House approved House Bill No. 7805 or the Internet Transactions Act, which seeks to end fraudulent transactions in the sale of services and goods online. ADVERTISEMENTUnder the bill, an eCommerce Bureau will be created under the Department of Trade and Industry, which will be mandated to implement, monitor and ensure compliance to the Internet Transactions Act, among other duties and responsibilities. It will also have the power to investigate and file appropriate cases against violators and shall receive and address consumer complaints on internet transactions.
