TAGUM, Davao del Norte, Philippines — The Philippine Sports Commission and host Davao del Norte will put premium on security and health when they team up for the Mindanao Leg of the 2019 Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy unfolding today at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex here. Concerns were raised after a couple of deadly bomb attacks rocked parts of the Mindanao region and a student athlete from Davao Oriental died of pneumonia during the Davao Region Athletic Association regional meet in nearby Davao City. “While Tagum is safe and clean, we at the PSC and host Davao del Norte will leave no stone unturned and make sure we will have a safe and clean Batang Pinoy,” said Maxey, commissioner in charge of this weeklong event for in-and-out school youth athletes 15 years old and below. Meanwhile, Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Davao del Norte Gov. Action unfurls tomorrow in archery, arnis, basketball, badminton, boxing, chess, dancesports, karatedo, pencak silat, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis and indoor and beach volleyball.
