"It seems the two militants had all the information about the movement of the prisoners," a source said. Police said Jatt had been referred from Srinagar's central jail to SMHS hospital, where two pheran-clad militants were waiting for him. "The militants opened indiscriminate fire at two of the three policemen accompanying the prisoners, killing one and injuring the other. The hospital was packed with people at the time of the forenoon attack and the firing led to panic. Initial reports suggest the two assailants came in a motorbike and fled with Jatt on the two-wheeler," a source said.
