Emergency services were asked not to use sirens on the approach to the crash on Puketaha Road, to avoid further distressing the horses. Two horses were rescued from a float after the car towing them crashed into a ditch north of Hamilton. Emergency services – and a vet – were called to Puketaha Rd, near Seddon Rd, not long before noon on Monday. The float had two horses in it and emergency services were asked not to use sirens on the approach, to avoid further distressing the horses, a police spokeswoman said. Emergency services had closed off a section of Puketaha Road around the crash scene and traffic management was in place.
