The community of Stock & Stock were impressed when the Readira Community Nutrition and Development Centre became a hype of activity on 12 April. Walls were painted, colourful murals made, wooden benches and tables assembled, the vegetable garden revived and an additional room built. The Kimberley and Vryburg branch of Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), together with the provincial Department of Social Development, undertook this project as part of their corporate social investment initiative. Winnie Mokoena, co-owner of the centre, was overjoyed and at a loss for words. The staff of the centre reportedly feeds over 216 beneficiaries daily and looks after TB and HIV/AIDS patients referred by their local clinic.
