Super typhoon Goni will close in to within 800km of Hong Kong next Tuesday. (File photo)As of 12pm, super typhoon Goni was centered about 770 kilometres east of Manila. The associated band of clouds will affect the northern part of the South China Sea midweek next week. It will then weaken into a tropical cyclone and enter within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong next Tuesday, according to the Hong Kong Observatory. Meanwhile, tropical Storm Atsani was centred about 1980 kilometres east of Manila.
