Police on guard outside a motel room in Invercargill on Sunday. Invercargill police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead in the northern suburb of Waikiwi on Sunday. Southland Area Commander Inspector Mike Bowman said officers attended a North Rd, Waikiwi address about 11am after receiving a report of concern. No-one was allowed into the motel room, and he had not been in there himself, he said. "A scene guard is in place at the North Rd address while examinations are undertaken," Bowman said.
