Toronto Police charged a 21-year-old man on Wednesday with first-degree murder for allegedly ramming a pedestrian with a van on George St. last week. Steven Doyle, 27, was standing on the west side of George St, near Gerrard St. E. at around 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 15 when he was hit and killed by a blue Dodge Caravan. It was later found abandoned in a parking lot several blocks away. The day after the incident, police released surveillance footage of a blue van sitting in a parking lot, in the hopes of identifying the suspected driver. In it, a man removes his jacket and wipes down the interior of the van and the driver’s-side door, before fleeing the scene.
