Hockley elected New Zealand Cricket's 1st female president

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) " Debbie Hockley has been elected as president of New Zealand Cricket, becoming the first woman to hold that role in the 122-year history of the sport's national governing body. New Zealand Cricket said Wednesday that Hockley, who was captain of New Zealand's women's team and is a member of the International Cricket Council's hall of fame, will replace Stephen Boock and will serve a three-year term. Hockley played 19 tests and 118 limited-overs internationals for the New Zealand women's team, making her international debut in 1979. Another former New Zealand women's international, Ingrid Cronin-Knight, was elected as a board director at New Zealand Cricket's annual meeting in Christchurch. Greg Barclay was elected the New Zealand Cricket chairman at the first meeting of the new board.
