Police have detained seven hijackers from the room of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Vice-President Arefin Siddique Sujon at Dhaka University’s Surya Sen Hall. “They were detained from room No 315 with with meat cleavers and machetes,” he told the Dhaka Tribune. “We raided the residential hall just past Sunday midnight after being tipped off and detained the seven professional muggers,” he added. Hall Provost ASM Maksud Kamal said the hijackers were associates of Sujon, who was the former general secretary of BCL’s Surya Sen Hall unit. He said a toy pistol and bomb making material were recovered from Sujon’s room.
