ALOR SETAR: Police volunteers will get an allowance hike of RM2 per hour with immediate effect, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic). The Deputy Prime Minister said a volunteer will now get RM8 per hour from RM6, while officers will have their allowances raised from RM7.80 to RM9.80 per hour. “With the increase, we hope more people will be encouraged to join and serve in the volunteer corps. On Saturday (March 31), Dr Ahmad Zahid announced an increase in allowances for the Territorial Army members. Last month, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also announced higher allowances for Rela (People's Volunteer Corps) volunteers and officers.
