ALOR STAR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi put smiles on the faces of uniformed bodies volunteers with his announcement that the RM2 per hour allowance increment takes effect from today. He said the increment, which was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak while tabling the 2018 Budget in October, would take effect immediately. Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the allowance review was proof of the government’s recognition of the sacrifices and loyalty of the volunteer personnel and officers in uniformed bodies nationwide. "Following the review, the allowance for volunteers including those in the police force will increase from RM6 per hour to RM8 per hour for volunteer personnel and RM7.80 per hour to RM9.80 per hour for volunteer officers. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the allowance increment from RM6 per hour to RM8 for volunteer personnel, and from RM7 to RM9 per hour for volunteer officers, takes effect immediately.
