Heritage work excellence to be celebrated

Dunedin's heritage, and those working to preserve it, will soon be celebrated again. The 2020 Dunedin Heritage Awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in the conservation and re-use of heritage buildings and structures, are open for nominations. They are administered by the Dunedin City Council in partnership with heritage stakeholders in the city. Council heritage adviser Andrea Farminer said entries were encouraged for recently completed projects that demonstrated elements of heritage sympathy, quality of design and a passion for respecting the city's heritage character. There are seven categories: Oakwood Properties Earthquake Strengthening Award, Otago Polytechnic School of Design Interior Architecture Award, Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Heritage Conservation Award, Dunedin Heritage Fund Pam Jordan Services to Heritage Award, council Heritage Streetscape Award, Dunedin Outstanding Heritage Re-use Award, and the Seddons The Fibrous Plaster Company Student Design Competition Award.
