HBO boss Casey Bloys has revealed new information about the show’s second season. Due to its popularity and universal acclaim – boasting a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes – the show was renewed for a second season weeks before its season one finale. In an August interview with Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, showrunner Craig Mazin revealed that they were able to “map out” season 2 before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes started. While season one closely mirrored the main events of the first game in the series, the second game will reportedly take “more than one season”.
