Around 500 hectare of mango orchards in the low lying areas of the district went under rainwaters due to torrential rain, making it difficult for growers to harvest mangoes. Farmers are now currently harvesting their produce riding on makeshift banana rafts as the most of the chards went under water in five upazilas. In the last few years, many farmers in the district have turned their crop lands into mango orchards as it looks to be a more profitable crop than others. Many farmers said they could not nurture their orchards properly due to the incessant rains.
