(File photo)A low pressure system bringing a band of rain across the lower North Island caused crashes, slips and flooding on Wellington’s roads on Monday. A multi-vehicle crash which occurred around 2.40pm partially blocked the left-hand lane southbound on State Highway 1 just after the Newlands on-ramp. It was clear by 3.30pm, with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency thanking motorists for slowing down and obeying emergency service instructions. At 2.10pm Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency confirmed the works had been completed, but warned delays would continue. The organisation also had to warn morning commuters about flooding, which affected the State Highway 2 Hutt on-ramp on Monday morning, although this cleared before 10.30am.
