The Waingongoro River mouth at Ohawe is closed due to E.coli in the water. A health warning has been issued for the Waingongoro River mouth because of high levels of E.coli in the water. South Taranaki District Council (STDC) environmental services group manager, Liam Dagg, said people should not collect shellfish or come into contact with the water. The STDC has erected warning signs at the area. Further water samples will be taken by the Taranaki Regional Council on Thursday and the warning signs will be removed when the levels are considered safe.
