One outraged medic wanted the nurses disciplined as they considered the strike to be in breach of hospital rules. In 1965, nurses at Merlin Park Hospital made headlines when they staged a strike over what they complained was substandard food being offered to them. Nurses complained that cabbage was the only vegetable offered to them for almost three months.
