KLANG: The Health Ministry has launched a set of guidelines to protect staff from workplace aggression, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic). Dr Noor Hisham said that doctors, nurses and pharmacists face physical, verbal and even sexual aggression and violence at their workplace. "The guidelines are not intended to intimidate patients or their next-of-kin but to protect Health Ministry staff so that they can work in a safe and harmonious environment," said Dr Noor Hisham. He said the guidelines would provide information such as the relevant legislation to protect healthcare staff from aggression and physical violence. "However, after the necessary steps were taken, only one HTAR staff contracted tuberculosis in the last four to five months," said Dr Noor Hisham.
