It’s giving season across the nation and in The Villages. Villages Honor Flight just capped off a week of intense fundraising around Veterans Day, said Peter Tetrault, fundraising chair. Tetrault said the organization raised more than $50,000 through events that ran from Nov. 3 to Nov. 10, such as the organization’s annual golf tournament. Claudia Labbé, fundraising and public relations chairwoman for the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, said she typically sees an uptick in donations around the holiday season.
