Intense public anger has erupted in Mexico after a man who had been taken into custody because he failed to wear a face mask in public was later beaten to death. Those who were with López can be heard in clips asking how officers could justify taking the man away for simply not wearing a mask. COPS MURDERED GIOVANNIGiovanni López, 30yo day laborer arrested for not wearing a mask, criminalised by cops and brutally beaten to death bc he belongs to the Mexican racialized underclass. Other officers could then be seen trying to aid the stricken policeman, but the officer’s health status is unclear. Jalisco’s governor, Enrique Alfaro, had implemented some of Mexico’s tightest laws on face mask use to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
