The Greens and others are punching down onto local communities and local democracy by allowing private developers to build large housing complexes in residential areas without allowing input from local communities. This permission to bully build subverts traditional Green party values of supporting local democracy and being community focused. This bully building is justified using the affordable housing crisis! Reliance on private enterprise and the marketSince 1984 New Zealand has had a philosophy of reliance on the private sector for building housing. What we got was the current affordable housing crisis.
