Brook, 24, will leave Brendon McCullum’s party with immediate effect and Dan Lawrence has been called up as a replacement, with the Yorkshire star not expected to return. A statement on the ECB website cited ‘personal reasons’ but did not elaborate any further on specifics surrounding the batsman’s departure. The first of the eagerly anticipated five-Test series between England and India takes place at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and starts on Thursday. The two sides then head to Visakhapatnam for their second meeting, with Dharamshala hosting this winter’s final Test on March 7.
