The incident came as police launched an investigation into allegations star harness racing trainer Mitchell Kerr defrauded people in the industry for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Kerr handed in his training and harness driving licence to Harness Racing New Zealand in November, citing “mental health” as the reason for the break.
