This volunteer fire truck was destroyed in a blaze in a paddock near Ashburton on Monday. An Ashburton fire truck understood to be worth about half a million dollars was destroyed while firefighters dealt with a paddock fire. The truck was completely destroyed in the blaze earlier this week, triggering an internal inquiry by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz). Despite the lost truck, Greenyer said no-one was injured while fighting the blaze, which was a “good outcome” for the brigade. Fenz’s media team have not yet responded to Stuff’s questions about the value of the destroyed truck and whether it was insured.
