Speaking as the chief guest, on Wednesday, Hanif said four elected MPs of BNP joined the parliament but its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir—who was elected for the Bogra 6 seat—did not join the parliament. Expressing his skepticism about Mirza Fakhrul's decision to not join the parliament, Hanif dubbed it a poorly-judged political tactic. Senior Awami League leaders also spoke at the rally with Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud in the chair.
