Stocks closed higher in Hong Kong today, following a rout yesterday, when blue chips fell by more than 1,000 points at the close. The benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed by 254.86 points, or 1.08 percent at 23,868.66. In Australia, shares closed higher. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 won 1.6 percent at 5,407 points, while the All Ordinaries index finished 88 points higher at 5,478. On Wall Street, stocks booked small gains overnight.
