NEW YORK: Sneakers are taking over handbags when it comes to online fashion search trends, according to a global fashion search platform, Lyst. Last year in March, Rihanna's Fenty X PUMA bow sneakers was searched every seven seconds. In the physical space, celebrities like Justin Bieber, ASAP Rocky and Bella Hadid are regularly spotted wearing expensive sneakers. The low pricing of sneakers as compared to the handbags are not the only reason behind its rising popularity as often the fashion outlets fetch profits out of sneakers almost close to that of selling handbags. Sneakers initially a man-thing is now becoming popular among women forcing the brands to bring out women special collections of sneakers.
