Ruby Krishnan, 12, was on her way to school in the Hamilton suburb of Hillcrest when she was struck by a ute at this light-controlled crossing. The last thing Ruby Krishnan remembers is crossing the road on her way to school. Yet the next day Ruby was asking for her parents and a CT scan revealed she was going to be okay. Two weeks into the school year, Ruby even insisted on walking to school again. "Then [Ruby] said I'm ready to walk to school, Mum, and you can't stop me just because you're scared."
