Hamilton City Council tightening use of city's water

Hamilton is on the brink of going to no sprinkler usage (file photo)Hamilton City Council is cracking down on sprinkler usage, with staff hitting the streets to make sure people are following the rules as city temperatures continue to soar. Hamilton's currently on water level alert two, which requires using sprinkler systems on alternate days between 6am to 8am and 6pm to 8pm. "We are going to be instigating sprinkler monitoring," Hamilton City Council compliance manager Trent Fowles said. There easy things people can do to reduce the water usage like leaving lawns longer so they hold the moisture longer. The council's water manager Marie Porter said the concern is that on some days up to 50 per cent of water usage is outdoors.
