This was revealed in a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee that reviewed accident-related cases, including fatalities for the current year in Hailakandi district. The meeting decided to create awareness on road safety at the panchayat and village levels involving all stakeholders. It also decided to request the school authorities to form a cadet group, comprising senior students in each school to create awareness on road safety. Mannan, circle officers, inspectors of schools, principals of schools, NGOs, officials of the PWD, health and police departments, among others, were present.
